GARDEN SERIES 1

Let’s be honest: keeping backyard honey bees

Interested in keeping bees in an ethical and natural manner? I’ve been a bee keeper for four years.  Maybe not as long as some, but boy has it been both exhilarating and delightful!

Come have an honest discussion with me about keeping back yard honey bees (the good, the bad and the ugly) to see if it’s right for you.

This will be an honest discussion detailing aimed at providing you information on getting started in beekeeping as both a hobby and professional.

I’ll bring along some tools and supplies, discuss rules and regulations for keeping honey bees in Omaha (and offer suggestions on where to check in your area), where to purchase and more.

Spreading Diversity: Seed Exchange & Seed Balls

Get tired of growing the same old same—year in and year out?

The human body requires diversity in its diet in order to remain healthy and to operate at full capacity. Mother Nature requires a diversity of plants and seeds to keep thriving and producing. By saving seeds from the best plants and from ones which are best adapted to our local environment, we’re keeping seed varieties alive.

Come to this FREE swap! We’re also making seed balls.

City Chicks: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Chicken

Besides being amazingly friendly garden helpers, chickens are worth keeping for their entertainment value alone and the garden! And from home gardener to community allotment dwellers, everyone wants to be closer to their local food sources.

Come learn about all of the goodness hens can bring to your garden and life during this class.

You’ll also have an opportunity to meet a couple (and their eggs) in person, in addition to learning about local ordinances and licensing.

Duration: Garden Series Workshop 9am-11am, April 6, 2019.
